2016 Tablescape Inspiration Project - January
If there is one thing that I love, it’s tablescape and overall event design! Something so exciting happens when you’re given endless possibilities to create a look & capture a feeling through the use of décor. Seemingly random linens, vases, chairs and chargers (among many other things) come together to create a certain atmosphere and transform a space into your vision.
Design is about more than just matching colors; it’s about creating a feeling. Not all patterns and textures work well together and the same color of flower does not compliment every design…think a white daisy vs. a white rose. During wedding & event planning, so many people find it incredibly challenging to narrow down their choices and create a cohesive look. Combine this with the hundreds of thousands Pinterest photos that couples planning their wedding are exposed to and, boom, you're overwhelmed and frustrated.
Because of this love of design, I am SO excited to announce our 2016 Tablescape Inspiration Project!
I have partnered with numerous fabulous Edmonton photographers to bring you a monthly tablescape look on our blog and social media pages. Each month, I will work to create something new to demonstrate how different design elements can work together in beautiful ways.
January’s look was inspired by something pretty tasty… Cotton Candy! As I was doing my annual boxing week shopping, two of the cutest little ones were eating cotton candy patiently waiting for mom as she navigated through the busy mall.
As I was admiring the kids and being slightly jealous of their sugary snack, I couldn’t help but notice the resemblance of the cotton candy & Pantone’s 2016 colors of the year, Rose Quartz (the light pink) and Serenity (the blueish-purple).
Veering away from my obsessive love of flowers, two shades of cotton candy were used as not only the inspiration but also the centrepiece. Paired with clear chiavari chairs, a matching backdrop, and a simple but cute table setting we created an airy & happy feel to bring you a “Sweet 2016”.
