2016 TABLESCAPE INSPIRATION PROJECT - MAY
What do you get when you combine a wedding planner, a photographer, a baby, a helpful husband and the windiest day that Edmonton has seen in a very long time? I’ll save you the trouble and give it up… you get our May tablescape shoot!
When I planned this month’s inspiration shoot, I knew that it was time to start taking advantage of the gorgeous greenery and weather that Edmonton has to offer in the spring. What I was not planning on were insane gusts of wind and temperatures of nearly 30 degrees that presented us with an interesting challenge. Picture us melting while the tablecloth is being blown in the wind (not in a beautiful & romantic, “I want to photograph you” sort of way), place cards and menus flying all over the park and a helpful husband running around trying to collect the stationery in his dress shoes and button-up shirt (really, he came to hang out with our daughter but we put him to work pretty quickly). Thankfully Kyra (Kyra Jasman Photography) was cool as a cucumber and was able to time her photos just right to get these beautiful shots.
If you know me, it’s not a secret that I LOVE white. I really do love all colors and shades but there is something so pure, timeless and elegant about a white wedding and I am so happy to see that it is making a big comeback in the wedding design world. Taking this love I wanted to create a simple white tablescape to allow this shade to shine.
Shot at Whitemud Park, the stage for our design was set by using various textures and shades of white. By combining elements such as two different chargers, candleholders with a slightly vintage touch, a soft and sheer tablecloth overlay and glamorous phoenix chairs we added visual interest and created depth in a very neutral design. Subtle pops of color were added with soft tones of coral and yellow in the napkins and stationery with a gorgeous centrepiece created by Cerise Floral Studio finishing the look
